South Indian Style icon at Raj Jewels
Saturday Feb 24, 2018: Renowned Indian film actress Lakshmi Manchu, the daughter of veteran actor Mohan Babu, graced Raj Jewels with her presence at the store in Iselin, NJ. Known for her work in Telugu cinema and American television, she is the style icon for thousands of admirers across the globe, including on Instagram and Facebook.
Jewelry Scoop with Jagruti Video Blog Editor caught up with the winner of many prestigious awards such as Filmfare Awards South & South Indian International Movie award. The style diva and our Youtube Video blogger had an interesting conversation on fine jewelry trends. Manchu was allured by the extensive designer gold, diamond and polki jewels at Raj Jewels. While she was biased to gold as it has been an integral part of her upbringing, her style tip for the millennial was to go “big” on diamonds. “You don’t need 500 pieces of jewelry but get that one statement piece that you can enjoy for a very long time,” she stated.
Manchu stressed on the importantance of a stylist in designing a celebrity look. “You don’t have to stick to one designer now but mix and match. I could be wearing an Anamika top and a Sabyasachi duappata. You don’t have to be married to one idea and have the opportunity to experiment with your wardrobe, especially for weddings as you tend to meet the same people over and again.” When asked if there is any piece of jewelry on her wish list, she says, “ It’s never enough. That’s the pride we take as Indian women. We need to have our gold and diamonds.”
After viewing the collection at Raj Jewels and greeting the entire Raj Jewels family lead by Bobby and Jagruti Bansal, Manchu was fascinated by the assorted collection at Raj Jewels. Later in the evening, she was styled for an event in NJ by our Blog editor. Her look for the evening was created for the cold winters of the East Cost. Manchu was dressed in an ivory poncho style sweater; our editor added the jewelry accents-statement diamond earrings and matching cocktail ring in rose gold. “She wanted the jewels to be the star of her look and we chose more contemporary designs that had a red carpet feel to them,” Jagruti Bansal.
